חומץ האדומי

חוֹמֶץm. (b. h. הֹמֶץ; חָמַץ) vinegar. Pes.III, 1 ח׳ האדומי Edomite (Roman) vinegar (wine fermented with barley). Ib. 42b (when the wine of Judæa could only be soured by an admixture of barley) היו קורין אותו ח׳ סתםוכ׳ they called it plain vinegar, and now … they call it Edomite (Roman, Cæsarean) vinegar (to distinguish it from pure vine vinegar).
